Heather Midori Yamada
Artist and Teacher of Contemplative Arts
Texture, Pattern, Resist and Flow
Contemplative approaches to art-making series Workshop
February 9 - 10, 2025 (Victoria, BC)
"Stillness into Movement"
Stillness into movement is explored directly through the breath, body postures and meditation techniques in this all-level art workshop.
Hot wax, pumice, acrylic mediums, and brush techniques are some of the tools we will experiment with to create texture, discover pattern and facilitate layering in these two days. Linear gestures establish the opening energies on Japanese washi and other substrates. Sumi and acrylics in various viscosities and colour intensities will be sprayed, dropped, and poured into absorbent surfaces. Our honed sensibilities will aid us in knowing when our artworks come into completion.
